Our standards
Our goal is to publish health content that is accurate, balanced, practical and easy to understand. Every article should help readers make informed decisions, and none should rely on fear, shame or exaggerated claims.
How we research
We base our content on reputable, evidence-based sources, including:
- U.S. government health resources, such as the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, and information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Peer-reviewed research and clinical guidelines from established professional organizations
- Recognized reference data, such as USDA nutrition databases
We prefer high-quality evidence, such as systematic reviews and well-designed studies, and we try to make clear when evidence is limited or still developing.
What we won't publish
- Promises of guaranteed or rapid results
- Extreme diets, "detoxes" or very low-calorie plans without medical supervision
- Claims that a single food, supplement or exercise will "melt" fat
- Content that shames or stereotypes people based on their size
- Fake testimonials, invented experts or unverified credentials
Writing and review
Content is researched and written by the FIT and Well Living editorial team and checked for accuracy and clarity before publication. If we use AI tools to help draft content, a person on our team reviews, fact-checks and edits it before it's published.
When an article has been reviewed by a credentialed health professional, such as a registered dietitian or physician, we list the reviewer's name, credentials and review date on that article. We only list credentials we have verified.
Recipes and nutrition information
Nutrition values for our recipes are estimates calculated from typical values for the listed ingredients. Actual values vary with brands, portion sizes and preparation.
Keeping content current
We review our content regularly and update it when guidelines change or new evidence emerges. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.

Independence and advertising
FIT and Well Living does not currently accept advertising, sponsored content or affiliate commissions. If that changes, we'll clearly label any sponsored or affiliate content and keep it separate from our editorial decisions.
